I shouldn't be sitting here.

It's true. It's Monday. I have at least 10 things I need to be doing right now. And here I sit. But this week is different. I am on a different wave length. Not as many events on my calendar this week. The pace is more steady. And so I treat myself to a few minutes of reflection...

Friday Out-of-Town Son had a scary work event. All's well that ends well. No one was hurt. I will say there was fire. AND. 9-1-1 was called. Emergency shut down happened. Things were damaged. No one was injured. Thank you, Lord.

Master Gardener plant sale happened on Saturday, with set up on Friday. The day was windy but gorgeous. Plenty people shopped and bought our plants. Check that one off.

Sunday brought rain. We vegged in front of the teevee all afternoon. We checked two movies out the Red Box. Murder on the Orient Express. The Post. We both dozed during the first and were pretty caught up in the second.

Today marks Alice's 3 week birthday. She is doing so great.
I hope to get back down to Alice's palace real soon.

Hope your Monday is special.
Namaste.

Spring fever. The hay variety.

Tis the season to be sneezing. Fa-la-la-la-la. La-la-la-la!
Took two kinds of allergy meds yesterday because the ears started to itch. Couldn't keep my eyes open last night. Fell asleep during the 6:00 news. Developed a nasty nose bleed from the meds this morning. I just can't do the nose spray any longer.

Busy month is starting to slow. Slightly. Thank heavens Saturday's agenda has been cancelled. Sorry that it is due to threat of bad weather. But oh well.

Next week will take care of itself. Just like this week did. One day at a time, like Sister Marsha says.

New baby is growing. She is up past her birth weight. Sweet thing. I'm gonna drive down to get some baby sugars next week. Kiss some little toes.

In the meantime...

These lovelies are blooming in my yard. Sheer luck with the Iris.

The amaryllis are blooming in aces. I have some to share if you want some!
I'll dig 'em up for you, even.

Shalom.

How big can a heart grow?

Easter day passed. It was a day of waiting. We dined later in the afternoon then headed down to Out of Town Son's house. There was a planned induction for baby #2. Best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray. And so it was. We arrived at their house around 7:00 p.m. The plan was for Son and DIL to check into hospital right after midnight (thank you insurance) for the beginning of the induction. We were to arrive mid-morning, in time to be there for the birth. I had been at the hospital for the birth of the previous six grandchildren.
Big sister, Cecilia, had her bath. DIL had her bath then declared that she was going to bed because her back hurt. I asked what part of her back and she pointed to her lower back. Son said I made my funny face (I knew what was going on!). Not 10 minutes later, 9:29 to be exact Son came through the living room and said, "She thinks her water broke". By 9:36 they were long gone to the hospital. Labor came on fast and hard.
Son texted all through the night. It was as if I was at the hospital. Little sleep was had.
This is the way it was meant to be. This birth was unique and special, even if I wasn't right there. It is her story. And we will tell it to her with relish.

Our newest granddaughter made her appearance at 3:21 on Monday morning. She was born to the Stevie Wonder tune "Isn't She Lovely?". And. She is. Lovely.

Alice Irene. 7lbs 3oz.

On Monday morning we got sister and ourselves ready to meet the newest member of the family. I donned a pair of pearl earrings Mr. Macho had given me for Christmas many years ago. I wrote a note to Alice and stuffed it in the original box the earrings came in. One day I will give these to her. Maybe she will wear them to that important job interview. Or when she is playing in Carnagie Hall. Or her ballet recital at the Met. Or when she walks up the aisle.
God's blessings on her always.

This man loves to hold his grand babies. I must make a collage of all the first holding pictures.

This was Tuesday. She was more awake, but still had the swollen birth eyes going on.
Her cheeks are so soft and kissable. Her nose is so tiny and precious.
She is just all over perfect.

Macho drove home Tuesday afternoon. I stayed the night.

Cc and I played all morning waiting for the Mom and Dad and baby Alice to get home.
She loves the see-saw.

Alice arrived home just before noon. After she nursed I got to try and burp her.
Daughter called this the "sweet sack of potatoes" photo. It is apropos.

Back at home and missing the little ones. It is addictive- the baby sugar.
Another busy month ahead. Hope we can swing back down for another baby fix real soon.

Shalom.
