The plan had been in place for months. Sister in law found out Cher would be playing in Biloxi and several sisters jumped on board. Condo was arranged. All we had to do was wait.
Then it was here. We spent the night with Beach Boy and his family Thursday night, dropped by for a visit with Mom on Friday morning, then checked into the condo. Sisters and a brother in law stayed there, too. We did a little grocery shopping, ate lunch at Felix's, made a liquor store run, then settled in for some fun. We laughed so much.
Our view from the penthouse was good even though the weather wasn't gorgeous. The fog has a certain appeal.
Saturday morning we joined Bro. Pete and his lovely wife for breakfast at the Yacht Club. I ate way more than I normally do at breakfast and was full for the rest of the weekend. We all went over to Pete's house afterward for a morning filled with fun and corn hole games. I haven't ever played before. I'm hooked. I love it. I am trying to talk Macho into making us a corn hole game.
We finally adjourned back to the condo. We relaxed and then it was time to get ready. We dined at Patio 44 in Gulfport before we made our way to the Coliseum. We arrived late and had missed most of the opening act. We just caught the last two songs by Le Chic..."Freak Out" and "These are the Good Times!" I am sorry I missed them. They were good.
At the condo - ready to go!
Le Chic!
There were lots of fabulous people at the concert. Lots of brightly dyed hair, and even more glitter and sequence. I tried to take pictures, but none did justice to the fabulousness of the people.
We had to wait for the stage to be set.
Then it was time for....
Cher!
Her fist wig was orange and huge.
The show was Las Vegas quality.
The lights, the dancers, the acrobats...
Cher looks great. She is 72.
As usual, the wigs and costumes were changed multiple times.
Her son even preformed late in the show. He plays a mean guitar.
After we all stood in the bathroom line we stepped back in for a photo op.
The roadies are so fast tearing down the stage.
Sunday after mass and lunch Mom decided she did want to see us all together. We had tried to visit one at a time so as not to tire her out. And so she could communicate with us. She is so deaf that she has to look at you to read your lips. If more people are in the room she can't follow the conversation.
It was evident in her eyes that we gave her great joy by coming by as a group.
We all got very teary eyed when we left.
We mostly felt like this might be the last time we gather before we have to gather for a sad occasion.
As good as Mom looks in these pictures, she really isn't very good.
She has graduated to around the clock care, oxygen, sleeping aids...she has congestive heart failure and all that entails.
Back home and to reality on Monday.
Lunch with my girls yesterday.
This morning I helped the Master Gardeners bundle trees for Arbor Day. Then I came home and helped Macho trim the crepe myrtle in the front entrance of our neighborhood. It was a very exhausting task. And we did it! I think they look very much better...
Now I must catch up on my Bible study reading and bake a batch of cookies for garden club.
More exciting things this weekend....drum performance at our art center on Friday, maybe a rodeo on Saturday, and who knows what on Sunday!
Shalom!
