Charity begins at home.

Last weekend we were on a "charity" circuit. Friday night we went to a silent auction-fund raiser for our local soup kitchen. I bid on several items when we first arrived and did not rebid on any one of them. And so, I was surprised to have "won" this lovely quilt at the end of the night.
I was almost embarrassed to buy it for so little.
Oh well. I am so happy to have it.
I also went in with three of my girlfriends and bid on a trip to a mountain house in Tennessee.
We "won" that, too.

Saturday morning we participated in a 5k fundraiser for a young man with brain cancer.
Sister, Paulette, and her two daughters also participated.

These folks were in front of us at the start of the race. Most we never saw again, but some we passed.

These were the folks behind us. Lots passed us by. Some we left in our dust.

There was encouragement along the route. This was about mile 2. We needed encouragement.
Even though we walked, we did it a pretty fast clip. Mr. Macho's shins talked to him from the half mile mark and haven't stopped talking, yet.

Sister ran the first mile then dropped back and never caught back up.

This was such a lovely looking hill. We took it carefully so as not to trip and fall. When we rounded the corner at the bottom of this hill there was an equal size hill we had to go up.
Sister bypassed the hills.
We took them. And it felt great.

Saturday night we drove to Tupelo for a fund raiser dance. It was fun. And. We didn't stay long.
We were pooped.

June!!!!!!!!!!!! It's June!!!!!!!!!!!
And we know what this means....
Juneteenth!!!!!
At our house!!!
Birthdays.
Baby shower.
Party time is here.
All our family should be here by Friday night. Bodies will be everywhere. There will be hugging and breathing and laughing and cake and ice cream and barbecue and presents.
Fun adventure awaits us right around the corner.

Be sweet.
